What’s behind the name?

I used to be embarrassed to tell people my maiden name.

My paternal grandma was a woman who loved the Lord and loved her family.  You would always find a Bible close by where Grandma sat and notes from something she had read.  Grandma gave her life to Christ when she was 14 or 15 at a Free Methodist Retreat that she attended with her friends, Audrey Harrell and Ethel Carver.

She earned a living by having a day care out of her home, where she cared for more kids that I could name, including our oldest daughter Kelsey.  Grandma also had her own business making miniatures, Miniatures by “Lady Bugg”.

Grandma loved the outcast, those who the world viewed as less than lovely.  She saw people through the eyes of God.  She was a woman full of compassion with a heart that broke for the things that broke the heart of God.

My grandma went to be with the Lord on April 30, 2007 at the beautiful age of 93.  She lived life well and loved well.  My Grandma left a legacy in her love for the Lord and her love for others.  This legacy is continuing through grandmas oldest son who I get the privilege of calling my dad, and my mother, Gary and Jeanie Bugg.

There is no other name more fitting for this house than the Lady Bugg House as a tribute and in memory of my Grandma, Carolyn Ethel Bugg.

Today, I am so proud to tell people my maiden name, because now I realize what’s behind the name.
